NO new deaths related to coronavirus have been recorded in the region today, but 242 people have tested positive for the virus.
Gateshead, Sunderland, County Durham and North Yorkshire all had more than 30 people with at least one lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 test result.
Figures released by the Government this afternoon said that, as of 9am on Sunday, September 13 there have now been 4,349 cases recorded in the North East and Yorkshire.
There had been a further 3,330 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK. Overall, 368,504 cases have now been confirmed.
The Government dashboard also said a further five people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday. None were in the North East or Yorkshire.
This brings the UK total to 41,628.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 57,400 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
