A MAN has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Gateshead.
Detectives investigating the death of Daryl Fowler, 28, have today charged a man in relation to his death.
Mr Fowler was found unconscious in the street in the Leam Lane Estate on Friday evening after he suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing.
He died in hospital later that evening, despite the best efforts of medical staff.
Northumbria Police said enquiries into the circumstances around his death have been ongoing throughout the weekend but now a man has been charged with Daryl’s murder.
Lee Wall, 43, of Chevington, in the Leam Lane Estate, has been charged with murder and will appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, September 14).
Emma Alexander Brown, 39, also of Chevington, has been charged with assisting an offender and will appear at the same court tomorrow.
A 30-year-old woman arrested yesterday has since been released with no further action.
Specialist officers continue to support Mr Fowler's family at this difficult time and enquiries into his death will continue.
