A BRYNAMAN man who repeatedly slammed a car door on a police officer's leg has appeared in court with a raft of offences - including drugs possession and harassment.

Rory Florence, of Cwm Garw Road, Upper Brynaman, pleaded guilty to nine offences when he appeared at Llanelli Magistrates' Court.

All were committed on October 13 last year.

The first was using a Mercedes involved in an accident where damaged was caused to a Vauxhall Mokka at Carmarthen Tesco, Morfa Lane.

He also admitted to being involved in an accident with another car and failed to report the incident within 24 hours or leave details.

The assault offence related to him assaulting a police officer by slamming a door on the leg of PC Claire Evans several times, causing substantial disturbance, whilst under the influence.

Florence admitted to driving a car without insurance and a licence authorising him to drive a vehicle of that class.

The harassment charges related to him causing Melanie James and Claire Evans alarm or distress.

The 35-year-old also pleaded guilty to possession of a quantity of cannabis and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks for assaulting a police officer, two weeks for drugs possession and two weeks for failing to provide a specimen - to run consecutively - making an overall sentence of 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

Florence was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £122 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
