LLANDOVERY hospital staff were delighted to welcome Prince Charles on Friday as he made a surprise visit to thank the NHS staff and emergency workers for their response to the coronavirus pandemic.

His Royal Highness spent time talking to staff from Hywel Dda Health Board and local NHS, the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and Carmarthenshire Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The Prince of Wales also met representatives from the hospital’s League of Friends, who work tirelessly to raise funds for the hospital.

A statement from surgery staff at the hospital said: “Sincere and grateful thanks to HRH Prince of Wales for demonstrating his own act of random kindness in his continued support to his local cottage hospital. He made a surprise visit to personally thank all the staff for their commitment and dedication towards all their patients and the NHS in general. A morale booster for all.

“HRH is always guaranteed a warm welcome in Llandovery.”
