AN AMMANFORD teacher who has created a wealth of distance learning resources has won an award for her creative flair.

Ysgol Bro Banw ICT Coordinator and teacher governor Lucy Lock won the Creative Award for Wales in the Microsoft UK Celebration Awards.

Mrs Lock has created various resources to engage children through Microsoft Teams and Hwb even creating online awards to encourage pupils with their work.

She has also created help guides for parents and teachers and everything she does she shares through her Twitter account for other schools to use.

She said: “During the last few months, distance learning has become more important than ever so the resources are very useful at the moment. All the resources I have created I am happy to share with other schools.

“It is all about actively engaging the children and making sure they are happy, safe and enjoying; and I have also created help guides for parents and teachers.

“The award was very unexpected.”

The award said: “In her first year as an MIEExpert Lucy’s creative flare has gained global recognition. Her beautifully created help guides have been requested by educators from across the world.”

Carmarthenshire County Council Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services Cllr Glynog Davies said: “Mrs Lock is making an outstanding contribution to distance learning in Carmarthenshire. The resources she has created are helping to make a big difference to our children’s education, particularly over the last few months when our pupils have been learning from home."
