THIEVES have stolen vital life-saving equipment from the riverside in Betws park.

The missing equipment used to stop people from drowning was discovered by officers on patrol along the River Amman.

PC Jaye Blanco-Martin and PC Steve Morris were on patrol after reports of anti-social behaviour and cannabis misuse in the park.

PC Morris said: "This type of equipment is used to benefit the wider public. It is a vital piece of equipment that could mean the difference between life and death for someone.

"To think that a member from our community has done this is very saddening.

"If anyone has any information to assist the police in identifying what's happened to this equipment I would be delighted to be contacted and to investigate it further."

Further reports of youngsters breaking into a secure yard backing onto Betws park and stealing pallets is also being investigated.

If anyone has any information they are asked to ring 101, or report any criminal behaviour anonymously to Crime Stoppers Wales on 0800555111.
