YSTRADGYNLAIS Post Office is set to relocate.

The Post Office has agreed to move to Family Shopper, in Brecon Road.

The current branch, in Commercial Street, will close on July 11 with the new branch opening on July 13.

Customers are asked to use Pontardawe Post Office during the relocation.

The move will allow opening hours at the post office to be significantly extended, opening from 8am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

The new branch will be open for 105 hours per week, more than double the current opening hours.

A spokesman for the post office said: "During consultation, comments were made about the distance to the new premises - a distance of 190 metres from the previous site.

"With any relocation it is inevitable that whilst some customers will have an easier journey to the new location, regrettably others will have further to travel.

"In terms of pedestrian access to the new location, there are well maintained pavements with dropped kerbs along the route from the current site.

"We have also reviewed parking and we can confirm that there is roadside parking nearby to the new premises.

"We are therefore satisfied that parking at the new branch will continue to meet the needs of customers using the Post Office.

"We are working closely with the new operator on the internal layout and some fixtures and fittings will be re-aligned or removed to make sure there is clear access into the premises, ensuring the entrance, aisles and the waiting area are kept free from obstructions and adequate room is provided for customers and a wheelchair to move around without difficulty."
