A POT of funding has been reopened and made available to support regeneration, business growth and job creation in key priority areas across Carmarthenshire - including Ammanford.

Carmarthenshire County Council is encouraging businesses to apply for a grant under the Targeted Regeneration Investment (TRI) programme, part of a Welsh Government regional scheme to drive economic development in areas deemed most in need, with funding targeted at Ammanford and Llanelli town centres.

The funding is aimed at bringing empty commercial properties back in to use, creating retail and commercial floor space, enhancing shop fronts and providing new job opportunities.

Cllr Emlyn Dole, Council Leader and Executive Board Member for Regeneration, is urging businesses, developers and owners of empty properties to apply for the fund.

“Now more than ever, businesses need support to establish and thrive in our town centres,” he said. “This is a significant pot of funding that will support businesses to transform or create new retail and commercial floorspace in our Llanelli and Ammanford town centres.

“It will also stimulate economic regeneration - creating jobs, enhancing skills and employability, and creating the right environment for businesses to grow and thrive.

“It has potential to make a real difference in our town centres and goes hand in hand with the council’s on-going efforts to regenerate these important towns.

“We want to support businesses to play their part in creating a vibrant retail environment that will provide job opportunities for local people.”

Any businesses or developers interested, with a deliverable project in Llanelli or Ammanford town centre, should contact Carmarthenshire County Council’s Economic Development Team for an initial discussion.

Expressions of interest will need to be submitted by midday on Friday, July 3, 2020.
