A CHARITY truck road run which brought the streets of Cardigan to a standstill in memory of local man Gareth Thomas raised £5,000 for charity.

Gareth was a Cardigan man born and bred but passed away suddenly in December, 2018 at the age of 72.

He had been involved in the haulage industry for most of his life and had friends all over Europe.

On July 14 last year, Dafydd Evans staged the first of what is hoped will be an annual road run in Gareth's memory.

There was approximately 120 lorries old and new on the run with people coming from all over Wales, England and even Ireland, which raised £5,000 for charity.

Mrs Brenda Thomas, Gareth’s wife, chose to split the money between the British Heart Foundation and the Local Co-Responders.

A presentation of the cheques, pre-coronavirus restrictions, took place at the family farm where Gareth kept his collection of classic lorries and tractors.
