VOLUNTEERS are working hard in the Amman Valley to deliver a Meals on Wheels service to the vulnerable.

The chairman of Carmarthenshire county council and Garnant councillor Kevin Madge is urging the isolated to get in touch if they need access to the vital service.

He said: "Firstly I want to thank the volunteers who are helping to deliver the meals to the vulnerable in the community. Also thank you to the kitchen staff at Garnant day centre who continue to work hard to get the meals out.

"If there is anyone who would like a meal next week please contact me by noon Friday, March 27.

"This week 28 residents received hot meals with the majority being over the age of 85. But I am concerned that there are more people out there who may need this service but not yet signed up."

The Meals on Wheels service provides a two-course meal and is available Monday – Friday at the cost of £4.80. A bill will be sent directly from Carmarthenshire Council, therefore no money will be handed over. The meal will be left on the doorstep.

If you know of an elderly person who would like a meal please contact Cllr Kevin Madge on 01269 825438.
