A CARE home in Cwmgwili is asking children and adults who find themselves out of school and isolated due to the coronavirus to send letters and cards to its residents.

Plas y Bryn care home manager Amanda Rees said the idea will help residents stay in touch with the wider community and help lift their spirits.

The care home has named the scheme Plas y Bryn Pen-Pals and residents are keen to help spread a little cheer and send kind wishes to out into the community.

"We are trying to keep positive and help lift people's spirits," said Amanda.

"We are asking children and adults to write a letter to the residents at the home, so everyone can keep in touch, and make each other smile with some kind words. We are a bilingual home so please poise those pens and send your letters.

"This project is extremely important at this time, unfortunately families and friends of the residents are unable to visit due to the Covid-19 virus. This project will keep our residents positive and lift their spirits."
