CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council has launched a new service providing additional support and advice for businesses and residents throughout the Coronavirus crisis.

Businesses and residents can access the new service by calling the council on 01267 234567.

The new service is available between 8.30am and 6pm seven days a week

Council officers will be on hand to provide guidance and signposting on areas including financial support and other help for businesses, assistance available for the elderly, vulnerable and isolated , and linking the needs of communities with volunteers.

Cllr Emlyn Dole, Carmarthenshire County Council Leader, said: “Communities throughout Carmarthenshire and far beyond are facing an unprecedented challenge, but I’d like to reassure people across the county that the council is doing all it can to protect our elderly and isolated, while also supporting our businesses.

“The new service accessible on 01267 234567 will provide information on the vast range of support available for the vulnerable, while also providing reassurance for our businesses about financial assistance and other sources of help.

“This work builds on the support being provided by other council services, while complementing the outstanding work our businesses and communities are already doing to help those in particular need. Our new service will also help raise further awareness of these business and community initiatives, while signposting willing volunteers to opportunities that best meet the needs of their communities.

“Council officers are also assisting volunteers on the ground, providing support to our elderly and vulnerable residents.

“The council, our partner organisations, businesses, residents and communities are pulling together more closely than ever before to rise to this challenge. The community sprit Carmarthenshire is renowned for has never been stronger, so everyone involved in helping tackle this challenge so far deserves considerable praise.”
