CAMPAIGNERS across the Amman valley have formed digital community groups to help vulnerable people affected by the outbreak.
Facebook group Amman Valley Support for Coronavirus is offering assistance to people who need help as a result of being forced to self-isolate.
The group has over 1,000 members, with many offering their help to organisers.
Backing local support Carmarthenshire county council chairman, Kevin Madge said: “Unfortunately very recently the local Meals on Wheels wound up and the elderly where making their way to Garnant Day Centre.
"In light of recent events an emergency meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 18 to discuss ways to provide the vulnerable with a hot meal.”
Cllr Madge is calling on the public to help by providing Garnant Day Centre with names and addresses of those locally that will need a hot meal delivered.
Register your interest by ringing 01269 826059.
Cllr Madge added: “The Day Centre may be closed but the kitchen will not be and we will be doing all we can to help the community.
"I am also calling on local food businesses, such as restaurants and food stores, to get in touch with me if they are prepared to offer deliveries on the weekends.
"The amount of people lending their support and offering to volunteer in the community is heartwarming and together we can help each other get through these tough times."
