GORSLAS community council has won big in the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards.

The National Awards have been identifying the best wash rooms in the UK since 1987 and this year thousands of toilets were judged in unannounced visits from an inspector.

The toilets in Gorslas park saw the council pick up the Gold Standard Award under the category 'away from home' wash rooms.

Gorslas Community Council Chair Tina Butler said: “As a Council we are delighted to have won the award as we know how important the facility is to people.

"Having the toilets located close to the centre of the village and within Gorslas Park is a bonus.

"The park is very well used and is a great place for families to come and enjoy a day out. Having well maintained loos is particularly appreciated by those with disabilities or who have young children.

"The loos are available free of charge and operate for 362 days of the year and we are extremely grateful to Spencer, Phil and Dylan from Danfo UK who look after the facility and whose hard work has been recognised by this national award.

"Well done to all concerned.”
