Police are searching the river Towy and woodland for a missing man from Nantgaredig.

Michael O'Leary, 55, failed to return home from work last night and his vehicle has been found in the Capel Dewi area.

House-to-house enquiries are being conducted and a search of the area where the vehicle was found is ongoing by the police, mountain rescue and mid and west Wales fire and rescue service.

The search includes nearby woodland and the river Towy.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to assist police with an incident in Carmarthen at 11.51pm on Monday.

“We sent two fire boats to search the river between The Quay and Whitemill.

“Crews from Swansea and Carmarthen also attended the scene, along with a rescue appliance.”

Anyone who has seen Michael since last night or anyone who may have information relevant to the search is asked to contact police on 101.”
