A MINI tornado is thought to have hit the Amman Valley this afternoon.

Torrential rain and hail with strong winds saw a tree fall at Tirycoed Road, Glanaman blocking the junction leading to Tabernacle Road at around 3.30pm on Monday.

The wind ripped tiles off the roof of the fishing club, Clwb Godre'r Mynydd Du, on Cwmaman Road and a window was smashed at a property also on Cwmaman Road.

Emergency services were called out to both incidents to make the areas safe.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for further wintry showers and ice in parts of Wales this evening.

The warning is set to come into place at 7pm tonight and will last until 10am Tuesday morning.

Carmarthenshire County Council has said gritters will be out tonight as road surface temperatures fall below zero.

Frost, ice, sleet and snow showers are possible on higher ground.
