PLAID Cymru MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, Jonathan Edwards, has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment to remember those who were murdered during the Holocaust 75 years ago.
By signing the book Mr Edwards has pledged his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honoured those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.
This year marks 75 years since the liberation of the concentration camps of Europe and the end of the Second World War. Each January marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The theme for this year's commemorations is 'Stand Together'.
Mr Edwards said: "It was a privilege to sign the Holocaust Book of Commitment on behalf of myself and my constituents. Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for people from Carmarthenshire to reflect on the darkest times of European history. As the Holocaust moves from living history, to history, it becomes ever more important that we take the time to remember the six million Jewish victims and also pay tribute to the survivors."
"Here in Carmarthenshire, we stand in solidarity to oppose antisemitism, prejudice and hatred. We are a proud and tolerant people, sharing a culture of respect for everybody who lives here."
