DYFED-Powys Police officers have arrested a second man linked to a spate of rural burglaries which took place in Carmarthenshire last October.

Over two nights, two quad bikes, a Toyota Hilux, bank cards, and two chainsaws were stolen from five properties.

Detective Inspector Andrew Cotterell said: “The Carmarthenshire division was hit by a spate of thefts overnight on October 28, with farms being targeted.

“An operation was immediately launched due to the number of reports, and a significant amount of work went into identifying potential suspects within Dyfed-Powys and in neighbouring forces.

“A man was arrested and charged with burglaries, thefts from vehicles and criminal damage in November, but further enquiries led the investigation team to believe this individual was not acting alone.

“Over the past two months the investigation has continued, and this week a man from the South Wales Police area has been arrested.”

A 30-year-old from Landore, Swansea, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary/theft on Tuesday, January 15, and has been released on bail.

“We would like to thank the victims in this case for their cooperation and patience as we endeavour to ensure justice is brought against all those involved,” said DI Cotterell.

“We understand the impact crime has on rural communities, and we will continue to actively pursue offenders with a view to disrupting their illegal activity.”
