THE live TV cameras will visit The Recreation Ground for the first time on Friday as Ammanford continue their Welsh Cup run against Cymru Premier side Caernarfon.

The clash between Ammanford and the side sitting fifth in the top division of Welsh football will be shown live on S4C.

It is a cause for great excitement amongst those at the club following Ammanford's 4-0 win in the last round of the competition, away at another Cymru Premier side, Carmarthen Town.

Vice Chairman at the club, Rhodri Jones said: "The last game against Carmarthen came as a little bit of a shock. We were confident going into it that we had the quality but to win 4-0 was beyond our expectations.

"Now we are home, we fancy our chances against anyone. We've got some good league form going into it, but this will be a much tougher test.

"They are a top six side and the Cofi Army is the only support to rival our Black and White Army. Personally, I just hope that we show a good representation of our town, both on and off the field.

"The club and players have worked extremely hard to put themselves just one game away from the last eight, and what an achievement that would be to, live for the first time ever at home at the Rec.

"We had nearly 800 fans at our Amman Valley Derby, and we hope that people will turn out in their numbers to support us again on Friday."

Jonathan Edwards MP is also looking forward to Ammanford’s JD Welsh Cup game this coming Friday.

He said: "Watching the development of Ammanford football club over recent years has given me huge pleasure not just as a local representative but also as a fan. All our local sporting clubs are vital elements of our local community - they make us who we are.

"This year's Welsh cup run has really made a statement about the ambition of the club. With the game being broadcast live across the nation on S4C, under the floodlights and against Caernarfon one of the giants of the Welsh game - its going to be quite an occasion.

"I for one can't wait to get back from London to watch the game."

The game will kick off at 8pm on Friday at The Recreation Ground.
