AN Ystradgynlais care worker stole from a 98-year-old woman he was supposed to be looking after, a judge heard today.
Andrew Williamson from Cwmgiedd, visited the home of Rebecca Davies as part of his duties.
Swansea crown court heard the 28-year-old spotted an envelope containing £320 and put it into his pocket.
The money had been left by Rebecca Davies’ sons to pay a cleaner.
Williamson, of 3 Metz Cottages, admitted theft.
Judge Nicola Jones said his victim had been very vulnerable and Williamson had breached a high degree of trust.
“This was a sneaky theft by someone who was expected to look after her,” she added.
Williamson was made the subject of a two year community order and told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
He must also repay the £320 and pay £400 in prosecution costs.
