Christmas is almost here again – and what better way to start the festive season than with a trip to Ammanford? The switch-on of the town lights marks the traditional start of the run-up to the big day and there is plenty going on in Ammanford to make this Christmas truly magical.

Carols, festive lights, decorations and performances from local singers will all be part of the town’s annual celebrations and fill the air with festive spirit.

Organised by Ammanford Town Council, the official Christmas lights switch on will take place this Saturday, November 30 from 4pm to 7pm.

Radio Carmarthenshire’s Tommo will be taking over Quay Street from 5pm getting everyone involved in the festive fun.

There will be various acts performing throughout the evening, so head on down and have a boogie with some live music, including a special performance from Ammanford’s very own Nia Lewis.

Ammanford Town Silver Band will be taking to the stage to get you into the festive mood with carols, while Ammanford Lions will be on hand to help Father Christmas as they bring along his brand-new sleigh.

Father Christmas will be making an appearance and setting up a grotto at the Pensioners Hall to visit all the children of Ammanford from 4pm to 6pm. Also set up in the hall you can have your picture taken in the Christmas photo booth, or why not have a go on the Reindeer Rodeo or Christmas bouncy castle?

The lights will be officially turned on at 7pm.

A spokesperson for Ammanford Town Council said: “We are very excited about this year’s Christmas lights. The council has invested in new lights for the town which we hope the people of Ammanford will be proud of. We have some wonderful acts performing live on stage so it should be an entertaining evening for all to enjoy.”
