Ammanford fire station has thanked the public for turning out in support of their charity car wash.

A total of £900 was split between the Firefighters Charity and help support a local 16-year-old with Leukaemia.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Thank you to everyone that turned up to our charity car wash at Tesco. A fantastic effort by everyone involved. We'd like to say a big thank you Domino's pizza who supplied free pizza for the crew and to Ammanford Young Fire Fighters who have worked hard to help make the event a success."

Ammanford mayor, Wendi Mills-Lowe, also lent her support, saying: "Thank you to Ammanford fire service and the young firefighter cadets. It was wonderful to see the residents of Ammanford turn out to help raise money.

"Raising £900 in one day is a fantastic achievement.

"Ammanford town council will continue to support the fire service and their cadets."

The fire station holds an open day this Saturday, October 26 where you can expect plenty of fun for the family.
