RESIDENTS in Llandovery, Llandeilo and Pontarddulais will be able to bank in the town with Lloyds after they launched a new mobile banking service.

With branch closures across the region, customers are being encouraged to use the mobile banking service if they do not want to bank online.

The service allows people to make deposits to their accounts, withdraw cash and pay bills.

Customers can withdraw up to £500 in cash, or up to £1500 if pre-ordered more than 48 hours beforehand.

All of the mobile branches also offer disabled access.

Miles Ravenhill, Area Director at Lloyds Bank, said: "The way people are choosing to do their banking is changing, with few people visiting branches.

"That is why we have invested in our mobile branch network to provide out Welsh customers with a convenient, face to face service, particularly those in rural areas, where the times of our visit meets the local demand for banking.

"At each stop, our experienced colleagues are on hand to help all our customers, whether that is withdrawing money, paying bills, helping them with online banking or speaking about other services."

The mobile branch stops at Tesco in Tidal Reach, Pontarddulais, on Mondays between 9.45am and 12.15pm, Wednesdays between 9.45am and 11.45am and Fridays between 9.45am and 11am.

Customers in Llandovery can access the mobile branch in Castle Car Park on Thursdays between 10am and 11am and Fridays from 1pm until 3pm.

Llandeilo residents can access the mobile banking site outside the library, in Crescent Road Car Park, on Monday and Wednesday between 1.45pm and 3.15pm.

One user said: "My wife and I visit the mobile branch almost every week. The branch stops for an hour each week and is well used by residents. It is a vital link to banking for the elderly - an increasing demographic - although we have noticed that a surprising number of younger people and businesses also use the facility.

“The mobile branch staff are always efficient and courteous and attentive. The facilities are good- notably the wonderful tablets that reads your card numbers and provides all the info needed with link to in van printer if you need paper copies.

“The mobile branch provides a personal service which is much appreciated.

“Neither of us are internet savvy and we are glad that the mobile branch serves the community where there are a substantial number of elderly residents.”
