A female cyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital following a crash between a bike and a tractor on Saturday.

The incident happened shortly after 1pm on August 24 on the B4310 between Nantgaredig and Brechfa.

Police, road ambulance and air ambulance all attended the scene of the crash which closed a section of the B4310 for several hours.

The cyclist, who is in her 40s, was airlifted to a Cardiff hospital with serious head injuries.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called at approximately 1.20pm to reports of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle near Nantgaredig.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and our crew was supported by the Wales Air Ambulance.

"One patient was transported by air ambulance to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.”

Police are now appealing for information about the crash and want any potential witnesses to come forward.
