Llanelli Assembly Member Lee Waters visited Sospan Shedders recently and has called for volunteers to help the charity thrive and grow.

Men’s Sheds have been set up across Wales to tackle loneliness and isolation amongst men.

The Llanelli-based group is looking for volunteer trustees and others who have experience of growing and running an organisation.

Sospan Shedders have ambitious plans to help more local men, but need funding and support to do so.

They offer men the opportunity to socialise and learn new skills.

Established in Australia, Men’s Sheds aim to bring men together and provide a sense of purpose and belonging.

Lee Waters AM said: “Men are particularly vulnerable to feelings of loneliness and isolation, and can often feel they have no outlet and no one to talk to.

"The work of Sospan Shedders is a really important way to tackle that.

“The group really need local people who’ve got experience in running and managing organisations, and bidding for funding to help them thrive and grow.

"There's a real demand for the services they offer and I want to help them meet that.”

“There’s also a real need for volunteers to go along and help out when the group meets on Fridays.”

Sospan Shedders meet every Friday from 10am until 2pm at the warehouse on Great Western Crescent in Llanelli.
