A CHARITY football event is being held at Saron Juniors Football Club to raise money for the Jac Lewis Foundation.

Saron Juniors are celebrating the opening of their new pitch, which, thanks to grant funding from the Mynydd y Betws Windfarm community fund and Carmarthenshire County Council, as well as donations from Llandybie Community Council, has been fitted with a new drainage system.

The project cost in the region of £56,000.

Junior games will be played from 1pm on Sunday, before a fundraising match takes place between a Saron XI and Ammanford XI in aid of the Jac Lewis Foundation at 3pm.

Former Ammanford player Jac Lewis played for Saron as a junior from under 8s upwards.

All money raised from the event will go towards the Jac Lewis Foundation which aims to provide support to children and young people in the area.

Cost of entry is a donation at the gate.
