The swimming pool at Amman Valley Leisure Centre is temporary closed due to an “exciting development”.

The work started on August 5 and both pools will re-open on August 21.

The full programme of works at the leisure centre is expected to last 21 weeks from August 5.

Customers will be able to access showers on poolside and temporary changing facilities will be available in portable cabins from August 21 onwards.

Changing rooms will be available for those using the gym from August 5 until August 20. Temporary changing facilities will be available in the portacabins from August 21.

All other facilities open as usual.

A post on the Actif Sport and Leisure Facebook page reads: "We wanted to let you know about the exciting new developments we have coming to Amman Valley Leisure Centre very soon.

“We have listened to all the great feedback you gave us about the poor condition of the changing facilities.

"You will be pleased to know that we are completely renovating them.

“Building works started on August 5. The result will be a whole new changing room experience with improved family space, gym change, group change, modernised toilets and improved disability access.

“This new design will be more accessible, and family orientated.

“As you would expect with such a project there will be disruption to services, we will do our best to keep you up to date as things progress and have included plans to manage the disruptions as they occur.”

“With the closure there is unavoidable disruption to our Learn to Swim Programme.

“We will do our utmost to accommodate the lessons that will be missed during those two weeks, those lessons that we are unable to accommodate will be refunded.

“Those customers who attended during the Easter break will have caught up on some of the lessons that are affected whilst we are closed.

“We sincerely apologise for the disruption over this time and hope that you will see that the new facilities were worth the wait.”
