Jonathan Edwards MP, hosted a face-to-face event at The National Botanic Gardens on Friday 26th July that gave local community groups the opportunity to find out how they can apply for grants that could make a positive difference to their community.

Applicants were able to find out how they can apply for a grant of anywhere between £300 and £500,000 for their community across a range of programmes. The session included representatives from the National Lottery Community Fund, Heritage Fund, Sports Wales and Arts Council for Wales. The purpose of the event was to provide information to organisations across the constituency on funding available and how to make a strong application for funding. There was a presentation by each funder and a chance for 1 to 1 sessions.

The event also provided opportunities for networking between community groups in the county. There were around 50 organisations at the event from all across the county. The funders were impressed by some of the innovative projects and it is hoped that funding can be secured to make these projects a reality.

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards said: "I am delighted so many community organisations from across Carmarthenshire attended this event. The purpose is to support our valuable community groups in progressing their projects through accessing grants. I would like to wish all of these groups and organisations well with their applications and I look forward to visiting these projects in the future."
