Fines totalling £2,025 have been dished out due to litter offences in Carmarthenshire during June and July.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s enforcement officers have been following up reports from the public and catching some red handed, both littering and failing to clear up after their dogs.

The Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) issued during in the last two months were:

- £350 FPN issued to a Swansea resident for fly tipping in Pwll, Llanelli

- £100 FPN issued to a Llanelli resident for not complying with a waste enforcement notice and placing food, cigarette ends and glass in a blue bag

- £350 FPN issued to a Carmarthenshire resident for fly tipping at Kidwelly Co-Op recycling bring site

- £75 FPN issued to a female in Llandybie for picking up her dog mess and throwing it in a hedge

- £300 FPN issued to a Llwynhendy householder after their waste was found over four miles away in Five Roads. The waste was spread over two lanes covering approximately half a mile

- £75 FPN issued to a male for throwing a plastic bottle out of his car window on the Ferryside to Kidwelly coastal road

- £75 FPN issued to a Bristol male who dumped a plastic bottle into bushes in Tal Y Clun, Llangennech

- £600 FPN issued to a Llanelli business owner after trying to dispose of his business waste at the Llanelli Household Waste Recycling Centre. The business owner was stopped at the facility and failed to produce relevant documentation allowing him to transport waste, within the specified time

- £100 FPN issued to a Llanelli resident for allowing his dog to defecate and failing to pick up the faeces

Cllr Philip Hughes, Executive Board Member for enforcement, said: “We refuse to tolerate any form of littering in our beautiful county.

"All those who fail to make proper use of the many litter bins and waste disposal/collection facilities provided by the council will be fined accordingly.”
