This Sunday will see club and fun runners take to the streets of Ammanford in their numbers at the annual 10K road race.

The race, beginning at the Ammanford Recreation Ground, follows the traditional open-road route around Ammanford before passing the Bonllwyn Green to Llandybie and the surrounding area. They will re-trace their steps back down the country lanes at Aberlash to the finish line which will be located on the field outside the Rugby Football Club.

Event Sponsors in 2019 are Ammanford Lions Club, Llys Cennen Solicitors and Brecon Carreg.

In 2018, it attracted a total of 275 runners making it the largest turn out so far since it was organised over 20 years ago.

For the second year in succession, the Ammanford 10K will incorporate the West Wales Road Running Championships where regional medals will be up for grabs and proved popular last year.

Runners from clubs such as Port Talbot Harriers, Swansea Harriers, Llanelli AC, TROTS, Sarn Helen, Run4All Neath, Neath Harriers, 3M Gorseinon, Sospan Road Runners, Aberdare Valley, Carmarthen Harriers, Les Croupiers and hosts Amman Valley Harriers turned out 12 months ago and are expected to return to the annual Carmarthenshire fixture this time round.

Around 200 participants have already entered the event by using the online entry link which closes today.

Athletes who wish to be eligible for any of the West Wales age category prizes, they must have entered by the online closing date.

Limited on the Day Registration will be open between 08:30 and 09:30 at Ammanford Rugby Club, SA18 3AP with the race starting at 10.00am in the morning.

Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall Male and Female runners.

Trophies are also available for Open Male, M40, M50 and M60; Open Female, F35; F45 and F55 as well as the male and female team trophies which is first 3 to count.
