A popular family fun day is returning to Ammanford this weekend to raise money for much needed causes.

Ammanford’s Sustainable Fuel Solutions heating company (formerly SFS Ltd), in partnership with TRJ, CCTAL and Cyfle are set to host their fifth charity fun day for all the family with food and live evening entertainment on Saturday, June 29.

Since 2015, SFS have raised over £33,000 which has been used to purchase vital lifesaving equipment and has been shared across several local charities.

Speaking ahead of the first charity event in May 2015, John and Lesley told the Guardian that they wanted to give something back to the community and are hoping that the event would be something that everybody can enjoy.

They said: “We are hoping this can become an annual event”.

“We chose Ammanford cricket ground as the venue to host the charity day because the cricket ground is not only a fantastic venue, but it is somewhere all the family can go to watch the cricket or have some fun in the splash pad play area.

“We feel that there is no other cricket ground that can beat it in the county.”

Five years later and Super Fun Saturday is now bigger and better than ever before.

The event now offers a bike ride, a cricket match, a hog roast, auction and evening entertainment, organisers have even faced the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge.

Organisers took part in a sponsored marathon coastal walk on Friday, June 21 nd Saturday, June 22 and are asking for anybody who wishes to join them in the walk on charity bike ride, which will take place on June 29, to get in touch.

Charities which have benefited over the years include RYAN4LEUCKEMA, CCTAL Ugandan Hospital Appeal, Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, Swn Y Gwynt counselling service, Born on the Edge and Grand Appeal Children’s charity to name but a few.

This year’s chosen charities are Motor Neurone Disease, Baby Zion, Born on the edge, Cilgerran Children’s Ward at Glangwili Hospital, Grand Appeal children’s charity, Ammanford junior sports clubs fund and Prostate Cancer UK.

Come along, bring your deck chairs and your picnic blankets, support the town’s cricket team in action against Mumbles and enjoy all the fun on the day and the evening’s entertainment which will be provided this year by Andy & Gos.
