The Ammanford 10K Road Race returns to the streets of the town this July.

Entries before the day can be done online in 2019 for the second time and will incorporate the West Wales 10K senior road running championships which proved popular last year.

The race on Sunday 14th July follows the traditional open-road route around Ammanford passing the Bonllwyn Green to Llandybie and the surrounding area before returning down the country lanes at Aberlash to the finish line.

Event Sponsors in 2019 are Ammanford Lions Club, Llys Cennen Solicitors and Brecon Carreg.

Registration will be open between 08:30am and 09:30am at Ammanford Rugby Club, SA18 3AP with the race starting at 10.00am in the morning.

Online entry is just £8 affiliated and £10 unaffiliated plus booking fee.

Athletes interested in taking part are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall Male and Female runners.

Trophies are also available for Open Male, M40, M50 and M60; Open Female, F35; F45 and F55 as well as the male and female team trophies which is first 3 to count.

In 2018, it attracted a total of 275 runners making it the largest turn out so far since it was organised over 20 years ago.

Swansea Harriers’ Matthew Rees was the winner 12 months ago in a time of 33 minutes 49 seconds and has been a popular figure since his amazing gesture in helping fellow runner David Wyeth at the Virgin Money Giving London Marathon two years ago.

His club teammate Marc Hobbs followed in runners up spot (34:31) with Port Talbot Harriers’ Ben Williams crossing in third (35:03) to make up the top three and win the West Wales Road Running Championships medals in the process.
