A WOMAN has been ordered to pay more than £600 after admitting stealing from Co-Op in Llandeilo.

Rose McDonagh, of Three Cherry Trees Lane, in Hemel Hempstead, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Thursday where she admitted the offence.

The court heard how McDonagh was visiting family in the area in August when she stole the ten bottles of alcohol from the store.

The value of the items was £412.50.

Prosecuting, Sian Thomas said: "The facts speak for themselves.

"The defendant was seen taking the items out of the shop without offering any payment, and was shown on CCTV."

Mitigation for the 22-year-old said: "She has entered a guilty plea at the first opportunity.

"In police interview she said she could not recall, but since then she has spoken to her husband and accepts the allegation.

"She has seen the CCTV but still does not have recollection of the event.

"Her last offence was in 2015. Since then she has gotten married and had two children and her life has changed drastically since then."

McDonagh was fined £120, told to pay a £35 victim surcharge, ordered to cover the Crown Prosecution Service's £85 costs, and pay £412.50 in compensation.
