Ysgol Dyffryn Aman pupils were very successful at the recent Urdd National Eisteddfod held in Cardiff Bay over the May half term holiday.

Many students reached the Eisteddfod stage, whilst others were successful in homework competitions.

On Wednesday, May 29, pupils from Canolfan Amanwy competed in the Eisteddfod for the very first time.

A spokesperson said: β€œIt was an incredible experience for them to perform on the stage of the Donald Gordan Theatre in the Wales Millennium Centre.”

The Canolfan won the creative dance competition for pupils with additional learning needs and were placed second in the Creative music competition.

There were performances by the learners junior recitation party, Cerdd Dant Party and Girls Singing Party on Thursday, May 30.

The Girls Party reached the stage in a strong competition and were third overall.

Year 8 pupil Celyn Lewis had an extremely busy week competing in several competitions and was second in the Cerdd Dant solo competition for pupils in Years 7 to9.

Friday, May 31 was the chance for senior pupils to shine and the senior learners recitation party did so by winning their competition.

The school was also successful in homework competitions.

Ella Morgan was first in the learners prose competition; Bethan Carvell (year 12) was second in the prose competition for her year group and Alexa Woodley (Year 9) also second in her age group.

In Welsh learners oral group competitions, Alex Woodley and Martha Evans (Year 9) were second and likewise Rosie Megrath, Sinead Richards and Katie Meyrick (Year 10) were second in the under 19 competition.

The school congratulates all pupils who participated in what was a very successful Eisteddfod.
