An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision involving seven cars and a coach in Pontardawe.

The incident occurred at around 8.30am on Tuesday, June 4 on the southbound carriageway of the A4067 between Pontardawe and Glais. 

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "As a result of the collision, an 11 year old male occupant of a Vauxhall Corsa, has received serious injuries, and was conveyed to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff by Air Ambulance. 

"Numerous other people received minor injuries. One man has been arrested."

"The A4067 remains closed in both directions between Glais and Pontardawe, to allow for vital investigative work to be carried out, and officers would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst this is ongoing."

South Wales Police would like to speak to any witnesses, who may have left the scene, prior to giving their details to officers, and anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, or of any of the vehicles involved prior to the collision.
