The sun shone brightly when the 32nd Annual Trap Show Charity Fun Run got under way on Sunday.

Dan Evans, the Ospreys Full Back, sounded the hooter to start the Open Race of 4.7 miles and the 2.8 mile race for juniors and walkers.

In all, 273 participants, took part in the race, many raising funds for good causes.

In the Open Race, first to cross the finish line was Rob Kestin of Port Talbot Harriers in a time of 27.09 to scoop the £50 prize as well as a smart polo shirt.

Meanwhile, it was a back to back win for the first lady home, Wendy Price of Llandovery who crossed the line in 31.48.

The overall winner of the Junior race was Iwan Thomas of Burry Port with an impressive time of 16mins.59, whilst Phoebe Davis, a winner on numerous occasions at Trap was the first girl across the line (19.14), to take the title in the Junior Girls Race.

Dewi Griffiths, who has well and truly put his home village of Llanfynydd well and truly on the map with his tremendous success, is someone else who made his early mark at the Trap Run before following his dreams to be ranked with the elite, whilst still supporting the event whenever he is able.

Another exciting talent to watch out for is primary school boy Gwilym Jac Jones of Brechfa, who was 2nd in the junior race with a time of 17.38.

The generous array of prizes, thanks to kind sponsorship from Brecon Water, Gelli Plant, SJ Griffiths & Son, Morgan Marine, Hughes Decorators Glanaman as well as medals from Dyffryn Cennen Community Council, all helps to attract such a strong attendance. It is little wonder that the event has become so popular.
