VILLAGES and hamlets across Carmarthenshire are set to receive improved mobile service as O2 rolls out its 4G service across the county.

Among the 24 new areas which will be provided with 4G service are Llangadog and Manordeilo.

The implementation of the 4G network will allow users to have access to a new level of high speed mobile internet.

It is part of the phone company’s plan to deliver faster services to customers in rural communities.

Economic research commissioned by O2 last year revealed that the extra stimulus provided by 4G is equivalent to a 31 per cent boost over and above the underlying job growth trend for a rural community, such as Llangadog or Manordeilo.

Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer at O2, said: “I am delighted that O2 customers in more rural communities in Wales can now experience faster mobile internet.

“We continue to invest in bringing data coverage to as many locations as possible and have put forward an industry led proposal around a Single Rural Network which we believe is the best way to provide coverage in rural areas.

“We are already working with government on what this proposed network will look like and we hope to announce further progress on this front shortly.”
