Families from across Ammanford celebrated the Easter holidays in the sun at the Mayor's Easter Fun Day on Maundy Thursday.

Ammanford Town Council hosted an action packed family day of Easter holiday entertainment and activities, on behalf of the Mayor of Ammanford, on Thursday, April 18.

Ammanford Park was transformed into a Easter 'Eggstravaganza' featuring a 150ft Inflatable assault course, bouncy castle, photo booth, children’s Actif sports and tennis workshops and film club.

An Easter Bonnet Competition also took place with a variety of different styles and egg-cellent creativity.

The competition was judged by the family of the late Miriam Phillips, a former Ammanford Town Council clerk.

After serious deliberation, Brodie Butler-Evans came first place, second place was won by Tommy Howells and Christian Davies took home third place.

All children who took part in the competition were given an Easter egg and the top three were presented with a hamper.

During the event, there was an Easter Egg Hunt and a children’s disco which got all of the family hopping and bopping to their favourite songs.

Ammanford Mayor Deian Harries told The Guardian: “I decided to use this year’s Mayors fund to help entertain the children of Ammanford during Easter.

“There was an excellent variety of activities for the children to take part in.

“We are delighted with the turnout of the event with over 850 people registered before the day.

"We would like to thank everyone who attended our event."
