A PAIR of friends from Ammanford have combined their passions for Welsh football to launch a new magazine focusing on the domestic system.

Nick Davies and Jordan Griffiths have spent the last three months designing, writing and publishing the first edition of Welsh Soccerites.

The magazine, whose first edition’s cover story is an in-depth interview with former Swansea star Lee Trundle, looks at the goings on across all of Wales’ domestic divisions.

The two hope that it will heighten interest in league football in the country and encourage more people to go and watch their local club.

Nick said: “I am hugely passionate about Welsh football, it is something I have a big interest in.

“I am very proud of the domestic system we have in Wales, and I have seen first hand through working with Ammanford AFC how great it is.

“We wanted to find a way to show more people how entertaining it is.”

Nick also runs a website focusing on the domestic game, Clwb Pel-Droed, but, inspired by the reach of other football magazines, wanted to add another project.

He explained: “Football magazines such as Mundial don’t take themselves too seriously and have a good reach as a result.

“I thought it would be good to do something like that for our game, so I came up with the idea of a quarterly magazine focusing on the domestic game.

“It is a chance for people to get their hands on a high quality looking product focused on Welsh football and hopefully will get more people interested in the game. Ultimately that is what we are hoping to achieve with this.”

A special launch event was held following the release of the first issue on the weekend.

“We have had a good reception to the idea, and quite a few orders have been placed already. We also had a good turnout at our launch event, so we are hoping we can make a success of it.”
