An Glanaman man has been jailed today for a string of child sex offences.

Gavin Evans, aged 42, downloaded child pornography and swapped the images with other paedophiles.

Evans, of Cwmamman Road, Glanaman, also managed to persuade teenage girls to abuse themselves and send him videos and images, which he also "shared with like minded people."

Evans admitted 11 offences of possessing and distributing indecent images of children and inciting underage girls to engage in sexual activity.

Swansea Crown Court heard that police who examined his mobile telephone found indecent images of children as young as four years of age.

Examination of computers revealed he had pretended to be aged 20 and downloaded 476 chat room streams that teenage girls were taking part in.

The judge, Mr Recorder Chris Clee, said Evans had talked a 14 year old girl into filming herself performing sexual acts.

As their "relationship" came to an end Evans told her he had already sent the footage to 12 other men.

He had also discussed child abuse and how to exchange indecent images with other paedophiles, and had told them how to access a website containing more than 600 videos and images.

Mr Recorder Clee said the offending had gone on for six months and during that time he had been in daily contact with a 15 year old girl, such was his persistence.

Evans was jailed for four years and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting his access to children, for life.

He was also ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for life.
