Norfolk, formerly Haverfordwest

Mr Tony Rees, of Diss, Norfolk, but formerly of Haverfordwest died on February 2, 2019. He was 61.

Tony was the managing director of Syne Qua Non Clinical, a science company.

He was the son of the late Derek and Doreen Rees of Haverfordwest,

Tony attended Mary Immaculate School and Haverfordwest Grammar School, where he excelled at science. He attained a degree in applied biology in Bristol before moving to Norfolk to work in the clinical sciences industry.

In 1996 he set up Syne Qua Non, a clinical sciences company, and in 2009, the 100-strong team was awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in the export category at a reception with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Tony’s focus on technology was instrumental in his company winning the award again in 2017, this time in the innovation category.

Well known, liked and respected within the pharmaceutical fraternity, Tony frequently spoke at various conferences and events, including at the House of Commons.

A man of many talents, Tony was an excellent semi-professional photographer and a Masterchef standard chef. His other hobbies included rugby, fishing, metal-detecting, antique bottle and coin collecting and he had a love of music and singing.

Following the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, he spent a month in Thailand as part of an international group of volunteers helping people rebuild their lives, and raising money to replace a fishing boat for a local fisherman who had lost his wife and daughter in the tsunami. He named the boat Cariad.

While his top priority was his family, Tony was a big-hearted and passionate man, who, with his warm, gregarious personality and his giving nature welcomed everyone into his life with open arms. He will be sadly missed but leaves us all richer for having known him.

He leaves to mourn his son Gareth, daughter Melanie and her husband Dean, grandchildren Kiara and Tegan, sister Sandra and her husband Stephen, niece Lisa, and nephews Ben and Lee.

The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on March 1.

Milford Haven

MR Kenneth Alfred Davies passed away peacefully at his home, 64 Glebelands, Hakin, Milford Haven on 25th February aged 84 years.

Ken worked all his life until he was 76, on numerous oil refineries with scaffolding companies. On his retirement he enjoyed maintaining the family home with his wife Val. He was a totally devoted husband, father, bampy and great bampy.

Family left to mourn are his devoted wife Val, children Gary, Kevin, Graham and Hannah, Karen and Stephen, Tracy and Fred, Andrew and Joclyn. Grandchildren Rachel and Jamie, Emma and Louise, Kelian and Micky, Shaun and Kelly, Matthew and Gemma, Lauren and Luke, Josh, Lee and Simon, Danielle, Joanne and Paul, Stephanie and Rob. Great grandchildren Mollie, Caitlyn, Daisy, Harlow, Harper, Darcy, Willow, Courtney, Charlie-May, Kaden, Shannon, Casey, Connor, Ebony, Mia. Billy and Kay, David and Jean brothers and sisters in law. Mavis and Bernard sister and brother in law.

The bearers were grandsons Shaun, Matthew, Lee, Josh, Jamie and Micky.

The ceremony was held at St. Katherines Church, Milford Haven on Monday 4th March and was conducted by Father Paul Davies followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery and was a warm and affectionate celebration of Ken’s life which also included a loving and heartfelt tribute, written and read by his grandson Lee. There were beautiful floral tributes from his family and friends.

His memory will live on in their hearts. Rest in peace wherever your spirit lies.

Mr J G Kitts

Caterham formerly Pembroke

THE funeral recently took place of the late Mr John George Kitts of Caterham, Surrey, formerly of Pembroke who died in a tragic work accident on January 10, aged 56 years, where the London Air Ambulance fought hard to help him survive.

John was born in Pembroke Dock and moved to London some years ago where he established a good scaffolding business (Kitts Scaffolding). He was always busy and popular but never forgot his Welsh roots and often came home to Pembroke to visit his family and friends.

He leaves to mourn his partner Debbie Humphries; daughters Sian, and Terri and their partners Dean and Tyrone; granddaughters Sophia, Kendall Mavis and Mackenzie; stepson Lee and wife Amy, and his mother Sheila Kitts - his father David predeceased him in 2000; Debbie’s mum Edna and family. Also John’s siblings and spouses Julie and Derek, Robert and Dawn, Peter and Christine, Alan and Karen and many nieces and nephews and their families, too numerous to mention.

A humanist funeral was held at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium where poems and readings were read by his god-daughters Ellie Scourfield and Kelsie Kitts, George Banner, Terry Kitts and Wayne Bradfield.

The bearers were Derek, Marc and Mickey Scourfield, Alan Kitts, Lee Humphries and Wayne Bradfield.

The wake was held at the Royal British Legion Club, Caterham.

The family will be scattering the ashes in Wales at a later date where all are welcome to join them to raise a glass to John.
