A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on a dual carraway.

The incident happened at around 1.22am on Sunday, February 24 on the A48 between Cross Hands roundabout and Pont Abraham services.

Police officers and paramedics were called to the scene of the collision, which happened on the eastbound stretch of the carriageway near the Cwmgwili junction.

Both sides of the A48 were closed for around four hours, with the westbound side reopening at around 5am.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The incident involved a heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian.

“Sadly, the man passed away at scene.

“If anyone has any information or may have seen a male pedestrian walking along the A48 at the relevant time, please contact Carmarthenshire roads policing unit on 101”
