A ‘mumpreneur’ from Capel Hendre is calling on all women in business to network with fellow women and attend child friendly networking events.

The Mums in Business Association (MIBA) was launched in 2017 by sisters Estelle Keeber and Leona Burton after they realised there was a lack of online support for mums in business.

Now it has a following of over 33,000 women in business globally, as well as hosting and providing trainings and a support group for networking and building relationships.

‘Mumpreneur’ Jaimie Treharne has been appointed the co-ordinator for Carmarthenshire and surrounding areas.

“I have been running my own business for nearly three years now and have been seeking support and networking for my business,” said Jaimie, a Cambridge Weight Plan consultant.

“I have attended other local networking meetings, but they usually come with expensive membership fees and are at times where I can’t attend due to the school run.

“That’s why I applied to be a co-ordinator for MIBA.

“The idea is that we can empower each other, build our businesses in a place where even if we rock up in our baggies and mum buns, no one will be judged because it’s likely we’re all in the same boat.

“I have also set up a free Facebook group for all women in business in the area to join.”

The first local networking event takes place on Wednesday, March 6 from 9:30am until 12pm in Play Cwtsh Chwarae, Ammanford.

Jaimie added: “It’s a chance for every attendee to showcase their business, their products and network with other women in a child friendly environment.”

Tickets for all events are available on the MIBA website, through the Facebook group or via this link mumsinbusinessassociation.com.

There are no membership fees. Tickets are £15 (children do not need an event ticket however it is £1 per child for entry to Play Cwtsh Chwarae – payable at the door).

Every attendee will receive a goodie bag packed with free samples and material from other businesses.

All businesses are welcome to contribute to these bags to help promote their business.
