WRU Division 3B West

Amman United – 43

New Dock Stars – 5

Amman United consolidated their second position in the league with a convincing victory over New Dock Stars at Cwmamman Park.

Five tries from Liam Danter, Alun Lewis and Steff Rees saw the hosts grab a bonus point in a 43-5 win.

The Reds attacked from the off, forcing an early penalty, which scrum half Joel Foster nailed.

New Dock hit back immediately and, after a harsh yellow card to Amman forward Tom Thorneycroft, worked through the forwards before rumbling over for a pushover try after five minutes.

But Amman were soon attacking the other end.

The excellent Alun Lewis broke from deep and fended off several attempted tackles to drive over for a fine individual score.

United's incisive play then saw another lightning break from full back Rhodri Lewis and his neat offload put in wing Liam Danter for the first of his two tries.

Before halftime, centre Steff Davies made the telling break and put the try on a plate for Danter.

With a few substitutions after the halftime break, Amman brought on Steff Rees to dictate play behind the scrum, and his tactical kicking began to pay dividends, almost putting another replacement Jack Evans in with a teasing crossfield kick.

Dylan James also came on to bolster the front-row, but Amman were finding the elusive bonus point evading them by a stubborn New Dock defence in tiring conditions.

The blue wall was finally breached when Alun Lewis broke the deadlock with another superb break before going in under the posts for the bonus.

Foster's conversion again continued the scoreboard ticking over.

Deep into added- time, the home side put the icing on the cake when Steff Rees powered over for a late converted try and complete a comprehensive win.

Amman travel to Lampeter Town on Saturday.
