A slaughterhouse worker from Cross Hands who downloaded almost 1,000 indecent images of children has been jailed today.

Thomasz Modlinski, aged 28, finally admitted three offences of downloading child pornography from the Internet.

But during three police interviews he claimed the images had appeared by accident while he had been viewing other material.

However, said Judge David Hale, it became "obvious in the extreme" how they got onto his computer after officers discovered he had entered explicit search terms.

Modlinski, of Llandeilo Road, admitted possessing 294 images in the most serious category A, 432 in B and 260 in C.

Swansea crown court heard the images included entire films.

Modlinski was jailed for eight months and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his access to the Internet.

He was also ordered to register with the police as a sex offender and to pay a £140 court surcharge.

Judge Hale told Modlinski he was in denial.

"He denied during interviews that he gathered sexual pleasure from the images. But given the search terms it cannot be right that they arrived onto his computer by accident.

"There is not a hint that a course would be of help to him," he added.
