Severe weather warnings have been increased to include a larger part of Wales for today and tomorrow.

Storm Diana is the latest winter weather alert, with heavy rain and winds of up to 70mph set to blast most of the UK throughout today and tomorrow.

The warning states: "A very unsettled spell of weather is expected, with strong winds, combined with widespread and in places heavy rain.

"Wind gusts of 60 mph are expected, with a few more exposed locations seeing 70 mph gusts. "Winds will moderate across the south of the warning area by evening and then across remaining parts overnight."

The warning is in place until midnight.

A second weather warning for wind on Thursday now covers the whole of Wales.

The warning states: "A weather system will move northeastwards across the UK on Thursday bringing widespread strong winds.

"Inland gusts of 50mph are likely with gusts of 60-65 mph in exposed locations around Wales and western England.

"Winds will moderate by late morning across western parts. Heavy rain is also likely to affect southern and western England as well as Wales, and following on from recent wet weather this may lead to some very localised surface water flooding."
