A 10-year old boy from Pontardawe has been chosen by Wales’ largest theme park to help park owners ensure the attraction is working hard to offer the best possible experience to young visitors.

Following a two-month search, Oakwood Theme Park has selected Levi Hubbard to become one of its three Directors of Fun, after battling stiff competition from across the country.

The Pembrokeshire-based attraction, which first opened its doors 30 years ago, is giving the three Directors of Fun the chance to spend time with senior staff at Oakwood to share their thoughts and ideas on what they love about the park and how it can be improved.

Levi, who attends Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Pontardawe, said: “I am very incredibly happy to have been chosen as one of Oakwood’s directors of fun. I was surprised to get it because there are millions of people who would have applied so I’m really happy.

“I love Oakwood Park. I come for my birthday every year and last year went on Speed five times in a row.

"It’s my favourite because I like really fast rides and going upside down.

"I can’t wait to help come up with new events and activities.”

Sue Elaiho, Director of Oakwood Theme Park, said “We are so happy to be welcoming Levi as one of our Directors of Fun.

"His application showed his true appreciation of Oakwood Theme Park and its family-friendly values, which we thought was fundamental in finding the perfect person for our new role.

“Hearing the thoughts of the public is very important to us at Oakwood so that we can consistently provide an attraction of the highest quality, that Pembrokeshire, and Wales alike, is proud to call its own. We are continually looking at ways to improve Oakwood and continue to offer attractions that people love, which is what inspired us to search for our Directors of Fun.

“We had so many incredible entries, and it was extremely difficult to narrow them down to just three. We look forward to hearing more of Levi’s ideas, and hearing what he thinks we can improve for our young visitors.”

As well as having the opportunity to share his thoughts with park bosses, Levi will also bag himself a family annual pass to the amusement park, home to the world-famous wooden rollercoaster Megafobia, as part of the role.
