Llandovery Young Farmers have raised £500 to help beat heartbreak forever after supporting British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru over the past year.

The group organised several different fundraising events including a concert, carol singing and a whist drive to raise vital funds for BHF’s lifesaving research into heart and circulatory diseases.

Katie Jones, from the Young Farmers club, said: “We wanted to support BHF Cymru as so many people that we know have been affected with heart disease.

"I have family members who are suffering and we wanted to help support this worthy cause.”

Jayne Lewis, Fundraising Manager South West Wales, said: “I would like to thank the Young Farmers of Llandovery for raising such a wonderful amount for a charity that is close to their hearts. They have done a remarkable work for BHF Cymru by organising events throughout the year.

“Around 375,000 people across Wales this month are fighting a daily battle with heart and circulatory disease. Each year these devastating conditions claim the lives of more than 750 people per month in Wales alone and thanks to Llandovery Young Farmers we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”

Each day in Wales, 25 people lose their lives to cardiovascular disease which can devastate those they leave behind. BHF Cymru is funding pioneering research, central to discovering vital treatments for people living with these conditions.
