SOME 200 construction jobs could be up for grabs in Pembrokeshire during the building of Valero’s new Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Cogeneration Unit.

The 45-megawatt project will provide power to the refinery, as well as supplement the refinery’s steam demand, and will help Valero to achieve improved energy and cost efficiencies.

Multinational engineering construction company Fluor Corporation has been awarded the contract for the £127m project, previously hailed as “a vote of confidence in the Pembrokeshire site and the wider Welsh economy” by First Minister Carwyn Jones.

Valero is holding a Jobsfair, supported by the Department of Work and Pensions’ (DWP) Jobcentreplus, taking place at The Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock on December 12, 9am-noon.

It is important that the future Valero workforce have the necessary health and safety site certificates, and the DWP is urging those who have uncertainties about their validity to work on site to contact the Danny Fellows Training Trust for more information.

Members of the Trust have been invited to the Valero event.
