An Ammanford mother and her five children have lost all their possessions in a fire at the family home.

Alison Searle, 45, and her children Curtis, 20, Shannon, 19, Dylan, 13, Charlie, eight and Alfie, six, all lost belongings in the blaze at Glynhir Road, Llandybie on November 8.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was confined to the living room area, located on the ground floor of the two-storey property.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus, a positive pressure ventilation fan, a thermal imaging camera and small gear.

"The Ambulance Service were also in attendance."

The family are now in need of items such as clothing, nightwear, underwear, socks, shoes, toiletries and towels.

Alison’s sister Angela Thomas made an appeal on The Wave radio station recently.

Angela told The Wave: “The children have lost all of their toys and they are so upset.

“Their prize possessions include an X Box, train set, iPads, toy cars, reading books, Lego, bikes and the usual things children love.

"The boys only have school shoes they were wearing.

"My sister is literally starting from stretch with five children."

Alison’s family have created a GoFundMe page to help raise money for their family.

The fundraising page reads: “On November 8, my auntie Alison from Ammanford and five cousins returned to their home to find the fire brigade outside.

“They have lost absolutely everything, whatever wasn’t burnt has been severely smoke damaged so they have had to walk away from their home with only the clothes they had on their back the morning they left.

“They are now temporarily living in a hotel and have been advised by the insurance company to find a home to rent as the insurance will take a few months to be complete.

“We are looking to raise money to help them with Christmas.

“We want the kids to try and have a good Christmas and to relive the money stress they have with all of this and for when they do get a place to rent to help them be able to get the essentials they need.”
